Khalid S. Babtain is the Operation Unit Head at Aramco, with over 6 years of experience in gas operations, including dehydration, compression, and hydrocarbon stabilization. He is a certified energy manager (CEM), lead assessor (ISO 50001), and risk assessor (ISO 31000). Khalid has received international recognition, including AEE’s Young Energy Professional of the Year Award for the Middle East Region. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from King Abdulaziz University. Khalid will share insights on energy forecasting solutions for effective digitalization in oil and gas facilities, focusing on the Hawiyah Gas Plant case study.

Khalid S. Babtain will share his views on how traditional methods, such as historical data and MS Excel-based offline linear regression models, were previously used to forecast and monitor energy demand in oil and gas facilities. He will introduce the Energy Demand Forecasting Solution, which utilizes machine learning and advanced data analysis to address the complexities of dynamic oil and gas processing environments. This innovative approach represents a shift toward digitalization, converting conceptual engineering techniques into practical solutions. Through a case study on the Hawiyah Gas Plant, Khalid will demonstrate how this solution has led to significant energy consumption reductions, cost savings, and improved environmental performance.
